USA vs IND Match Highlights And Report-T20 WC: On another pace-friendly pitch in New York, Arshdeep Singh recorded the best bowling figures (4/9) by an Indian bowler in T20 World Cup history and Suryakumar Yadav recorded the slowest fifty (49 balls) by an Indian batsman in T20 World Cup history as India defeated the USA by 7 wickets to enter the Super 8 round.
This loss of the USA meant that Pakistan remain alive in the race to the next round, but would need Ireland to beat USA.
Coming to this match, Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya’s (2/14) fantastic bowling helped India restrict the hosts to 110. In the chase, India were in a precarious position at 39/3 but Suryakumar and Shivam Dube posted a stand of 67* (65) to take the Men In Blue over the line and into the Super 8.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. Arshdeep struck twice in the first over to dismiss Shayan Jahangir lbw and Andries Gous caught at mid-on. The left-arm pacer would then return later in the innings to bounce out Harmeet Singh and Nitish Kumar and end with 4/9.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj both registered figures of 0/25 each while Hardik Pandya bowled a maiden and took the scalps of Aaron Jones, who was the interim skipper for this game in place of the injured Monank Patel, and Corey Anderson.
USA’s innings was going nowhere, though they were helped by the six sixes hit by five different batters. It all took them to 110.

In reply, India were rocked by the Mumbai-born left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar. Netravalkar had Virat Kohli for a golden duck, edging through to the wicket-keeper, and then he got rid of India captain Rohit Sharma with a ball that held a bit in the pitch and Rohit spooned a catch to mid-off. India were 10/2.
Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav, who hit a majestic pick-up shot six to Netravalkar, steadied the chase with risk-averse cricket. They formed a partnership of 29 (32), which was broken by fast bowler Ali Khan with Pant’s wicket as the ball remained low and crashed into the stumps.
Next were plenty of nervous overs in which even Suryakumar gave a skier but Netravalkar couldn’t hang on. Dube couldn’t get going on a pace-friendly surface but he battled through it and survived.
Eventually, Suryakumar started to get some boundaries and that eased the nerves in the Indian camp. Dube whacked a sixer to Anderson. With 29 needed off 28 balls, SKY walloped Shadley van Schalkwyk for a six and a four to get India ahead in the chase. He brought up his half-century in the 19th over and Dube hit the winning runs in the same over.
Score summary: USA 110/8 in 20 overs (Nitish Kumar 27, Arshdeep Singh 4/9); India 111/3 in 18.2 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 50*, Saurabh Netravalkar 2/18). India defeated USA by 7 wickets.
