USA vs ENG Match Highlights And Report-T20 WC: England recorded the first 10-wicket victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against the USA on Sunday in Barbados to become the first team to reach the semi-finals. This was a must-win game for Jos Buttler’s team and the senior pros Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, and Buttler himself stepped up to thump the USA.
Rashid produced a sensational middle-overs spell of 2/13, which was followed by a four-wicket over from Jordan, who became the first England bowler to take a hat-trick in men’s T20Is. In the chase of 117, which England needed to complete in less than 18.4 overs to enter the semi-final, Buttler blasted 83 unbeaten runs in 38 balls, which included five consecutive sixes to left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh.

Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first. Andries Gous flicked Reece Topley for a six on the fourth ball of the first over but a ball later a similar shot brought his downfall as he was caught at deep square leg.
Steven Taylor was dismissed in the last over of the powerplay by Sam Curran’s slower ball and Moeen Ali’s brilliant catch at point. Nitish Kumar’s hits to and over the long-on fence took USA’s total to 48/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Once Adil Rashid was given the ball, England got all over USA. He took two big scalps of Aaron Jones and Nitish Kumar, both batters getting bowled after missing the googly while attempting a legside slog. Rashid didn’t concede a single boundary in his four overs; he bagged the Man of the Match award for his spell that broke USA’s backbone in the middle-overs.
Corey Anderson (29 off 28) and Harmeet Singh (21 off 17) got USA over 100, but then they suffered a collapse. Curran removed Harmeet on the last ball of the 18th over before Jordan had Anderson caught at long-on on the first ball of the 19th over. A dot ball later, Jordan then went straight into the stumps to pick a hat-trick; two batters were bowled and one lbw. Doing it in the place where he was born and brought up made it extra special.

England needed to chase the target down in 18.4 overs but they did it in about half of that. After a couple of quiet overs to start, Buttler teed off. Using his feet, Buttler took a proper toll on the boundary down the ground.
He whacked Netravalkar for two sixes and a four, Nosthush Kenjige for three boundaries and Ali Khan for one four to end the powerplay at 60/0. Only formalities remained from hereon. In the 9th over, he muscled the last five deliveries of Harmeet’s over for sixes. It was fitting that he hit the winning runs, a boundary via the cut shot.
Score summary: USA 117/10 in 18.5 overs (Nitish Kumar 30, Chris Jordan 4/10); England 117/0 in 9.4 overs (Jos Buttler 83*, Shadley van Schalkwyk 0/15). England defeated USA by 10 wickets.
