United Looking To Trade Hojlund For Osimhen: Premier League club Manchester United are reportedly ready to part with striker Rasmus Hojlund and 33 million euros in order to secure the signing of star Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Italian club Napoli in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Osimhen had a breakout season at Napoli in 2022-23, helping the club win their first Serie A title in over 30 years. However, the 26-year-old was loaned out to the Turkish side Galatasaray after failing to secure a permanent transfer away from his current club.
This situation arose because of the striker’s falling out with Napoli leadership, the club owners, and management because of a number of factors, including the treatment he faced from the league, the fans, and his own club.
On the other side of this reported trade is Manchester United. The English giants have had a dismal time on and off the pitch over the past two years. In the 2023-24 season, their highly touted manager, Erik Ten Hag, led the team to their worst season in the Premier League era, finishing eighth with just 60 points and missing out on any European football. But they did make it to the Europa League by somehow winning the FA Cup.

Then, after a poor start to the 2024-25 season, Ten Hag was sacked and was replaced by Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim, under whom the side is headed towards breaking their own record of the worst performance in the league. In 27 matches, United are 14th on the table with just 33 points.
Not only that, but none of the Red Devils’ signings made in the last two seasons have worked out well. The likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte have yet to show their potential (or top-level experience in the case of de Ligt) for which they were signed.
One such signing is Rasmus Hojlund, who was brought in by Ten Hag ahead of the 2023-24 season. In the almost two seasons since, he has scored 22 goals and assisted three in 70 games across all competitions. However, he is known to spoil a lot of chances.
United Looking To Trade Hojlund For Osimhen
Now, according to Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, United are looking to part with Hojlund and 33 million euros to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Osimhen, for Galatasaray this season, has scored 20 goals in 27 matches in all competitions and was recently questioned about his future. To which he said this,
“To be honest, I don’t know. You know, the last few months, nobody ever thought I would come here. I never believed I would come to Galatasaray, despite how big they are. I live for the moment. I don’t know what will happen in the summer, but I want everybody to understand that I really love this club. I love the fans, I love the president, and I love everyone associated with the club. It’s really a big deal to be here, and I’m really enjoying my time here.”
While Manchester United finished third in the UEFA Europa League table, their Premier League performance suggests that they will miss any European football next season. So, it would be really difficult to sign a striker of Osimhen’s quality. However, his desperation to leave Napoli might just work in United’s favour.
