Ultimate Table Tennis is Back, Season 4 to Kick Off July 13 in Pune
The most recent edition of the Ultimate Table Tennis League was held in Delhi in 2019. Chennai Lions, led by Indian table tennis icon Sharath Kamal, emerged victorious in the third season by defeating Sathiyan’s Dabang Delhi TTC in the final.
After a three-year break, India’s premier table tennis league, Ultimate Table Tennis is Back. The league is scheduled to take place from July 13-30, 2023, at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. UTT is a franchise-based league that has been a game-changer for Indian table tennis since its inception in 2017. It is promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani, under the auspices of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
The Ultimate Table Tennis has not only brought top-notch table tennis action to India but has also given rise to some of the country’s brightest talents. Players like Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manav Thakkar, Sutirtha Mukherjee, and Manika Batra have captured the nation’s attention with their remarkable performances in the first seasons of UTT.
“Our main goal with launching UTT was to popularise the sport in India. And the ever increasing positive responses season by season were heartening to see. It’s unfortunate that the league couldn’t take place after 2019 but here we are again; as committed as we were on the first day in 2017 to take table tennis in this country to the next level. And to add another world class league to this vast mix in India,” – Co-promoter Niraj Bajaj commented.
In 2019, the Ultimate Table Tennis is Back it was held in Delhi, where Chennai Lions, led by Indian table tennis icon Sharath Kamal, emerged victorious in the third edition by defeating Sathiyan’s Dabang Delhi TTC in the final. The second edition was won by Dabang Delhi TTC, captained by Manika Batra and Sathiyan, while Falcons TTC claimed the championship in the first edition.
The latest addition to the league is the Bengaluru Smashers franchise, which is owned and promoted by Mr. Punit Balan. Mr. Balan is a philanthropist and a modern sports investor who has franchises in Ultimate Kho-Kho, Tennis Premier League, and Premier Handball League.

Commenting on the Ultimate Table Tennis is Back the sport’s governing body in the country issued a statement: “The Table Tennis Federation of India is happy to support, and encourage a league that is determined to grow the game in India. UTT has helped put India on the world map in regards to hosting a world class event in the country and attracting the finest talent from the world. We wish UTT all the success in the upcoming season,” – TTFI President Meghna Ahlawat and Secretary General Kamlesh Mehta said in a joint statement.
