Twitter Slams Harbhajan Singh Over Racist Remark: Social media reacts to former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Harbhajan Singh’s alleged racist remark over England and Rajasthan Royals pacer Jofra Archer, made during RR’s match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025.
SRH vs RR was Match 2 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. It was played in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, where the Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first.
In what was a demolition of the Rajasthan bowling attack, the Sunrisers notched up 286 runs in 20 overs, which is the second-highest total in IPL history and only a run behind the highest.
The biggest target for the Pat Cummins-led team was Jofra Archer, who ended his four-over spell with the figures of 0/76, which is the most runs conceded by a bowler in an IPL match. However, it is something else, something much more controversial, that is bringing Archer’s name in the news.

On the Hindi broadcast of the SRH vs RR match on the Star Sports Network and JioHotstar app and website, Harbhajan Singh referred to the English pacer as a ‘Kaali Taxi’ (black taxi).
Jofra came in to bowl the 18th over of the match. Having already conceded a lot of runs, the pacer was then struck for four on consecutive deliveries, the second and third balls of the over. Seeing how Archer was conceding a lot of runs, ‘Bhajji’, for whatever reason, felt it was appropriate to make the following remark:
“London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai [Like the meter of London’s black taxis, Archer’s meter has also been on the higher side].”

With Harbhajan Singh making such a controversial statement, social media naturally exploded over the remarks, calling out the former Indian spinner. While some demand
an apology from the 44-year-old, others demand him to be sacked from his commentary position.
While Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 44 runs with a solid display of batting by the Rajasthan Royals as well, Harbhajan is yet to apologise or even address his controversial statement made live on air.
