Twitter Reactions To KL Rahul 93 vs RCB: After hitting the winning runs, KL Rahul did a bold celebration by gesturing that he absolutely loves to play at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, his home ground.
The Karnataka batsman had had a couple of impressive seasons with RCB when he was an upcoming youngster. He then moved to three different franchises and now is looking at his fearless best at Delhi Capitals.
Rahul creamed a sublime knock of 93 unbeaten runs on Thursday evening at the Chinnaswamy, against his former team Royal Challengers Bengaluru, to take DC to four wins in four games. This is the first time in their history that DC have won their first four matches in a season, and Rahul has played a crucial part in two of those wins.
In their previous match, against CSK at Chepauk, Rahul opened the batting in the absence of the injured Faf du Plessis and scored a match-winning 77. Against RCB, he was back in the middle-order, at No. 4, as du Plessis returned. Rahul piled up an even bigger score in a tricky run-chase.
Chasing 164, DC found themselves in early trouble at 10/2. With the Chinnaswamy roaring, Rahul walked in and calmed things down. And although he lost a couple of more batting partners, with DC slipping to 58/4 in the 9th over, this new version of Rahul remained fearless – audacious in going after the bowlers but prudent in knowing which bowlers to target and where.
His placement and ability to pick gaps was second to none. After he collected boundaries off Liam Livingstone and Krunal Pandya, his takedown of Josh Hazlewood was truly remarkable in an over where KL Rahul effectively sealed the chase for DC.
With 65 runs needed off 36 balls, Rahul smashed Hazlewood, one of the outstanding bowlers of this competition, for three fours and a six in a 22-run over. Tristan Stubbs then walloped Suyash Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the fence before Rahul went 6, 4, 6 against Yash Dayal to get DC over the line with 2.1 overs left. Rahul and Stubbs’ partnership of 111* is the highest for DC for 5th wicket of lower.
Rahul continued his love-affair with his former franchise, RCB. Since 2018, nobody has scored more runs against RCB than Rahul, who has 691 runs at an average of 76 against RCB with four fifties and one century.
