Twitter Reactions on Rohit Sharma Century: Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma cracked his second IPL century on Sunday night against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. However, Rohit’s knock of 150* in 63 balls went in vain, as MI fell 20 runs short of CSK’s total of 206.
Rohit Sharma walloped 11 fours and 5 sixes and batted at a strike rate of 166, which was just below the required rate in the chase of the target of 207. Rohit, however, didn’t get enough support from some of the other MI batters.
While Ishan Kishan did decently as an opener, scoring 23 runs in 15 balls, and Tilak Varma scored 31 runs in 20 balls, both of them were still slower than the required rate. To make matters worse for MI, Suryakumar Yadav bagged a two-ball duck, and Hardik Pandya managed only 2 runs in 6 balls.
There was a period in the middle-overs where CSK pacers made a comeback to stem the flow of runs. This coincided with Rohit losing his timing when Hardik was new to the crease.
Rohit Sharma was on 73* (42) at one point and managed to score only 17 runs in the next 17 balls that he faced. This was the period where CSK pounced with Hardik’s wicket and moved way ahead in the game, so much so that some late hits from Rohit and Tim David weren’t enough to get MI even close to the target.

This slowdown in the scoring rate of Rohit Sharma was brought up by fans, and they called out the hypocrisy of those who regularly slammed and questioned Virat Kohli, but didn’t go after Rohit. Kohli has, in recent years, been getting a lot of scrutiny for some of his knocks where he had a slowdown in the middle-overs, either due to his struggles against spinners or because of losing batting partners.
Here Are the Reactions of Fans to “Selfless” Rohit Sharma vs “Selfish” Virat Kohli:
Young Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding figures of 4/28. Pathirana took the wickets of Kishan, Suryakumar, Tilak Varma, and Romario Shepherd.
Earlier, Hardik Pandya had won the toss and elected to bowl first. CSK’s top two scorers were captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (69) and Shivam Dube (66*), but the final flourish was provided by MS Dhoni, who clobbered three sixes in three balls against Hardik in CSK’s last over.
