He scored his first 100 in the format since 2023 and the first in international cricket in about a year.
Scoring 119 runs in 90 deliveries in the second India vs England ODI, this inning by Sharma was not only a match-winning knock and a lot of runs, but it also reminded the fans that on his day, Rohit is the most aesthetically pleasing batter on the planet.
With the Indian skipper returning to form at the perfect time, we will now look back at some of his greatest innings. While Rohit Sharma is an all-format great, ODIs are his forte, and this is the format he has been the most dominant in. Seeing that, today we will be looking at Rohit Sharma’s five greatest ODI innings. Here are the top five Rohit Sharma ODI innings.
Top Five Rohit Sharma ODI Innings
5) 171* in 163 deliveries against Australia, 2016

The only inning on this list that ended in a losing cause. It was a fine day for Rohit Sharma on paper. He scored 171 runs without getting out and took India to a solid score of 309 runs while batting first at the WACA.
However, India ended up losing that match and the series. But for scoring two centuries and a 99, Rohit Sharma was named the Player of the Series. His best inning of 171 came in the first match.
What stands out about this inning is that despite batting for the entire inning, Rohit was not able to convert his score into a double century. But he did provide a fantastic foundation to the team that day, despite losing the game.
4) 208* in 153 deliveries against Sri Lanka, 2017

This inning took The Hitman from being one of the best ODI cricketers of his generation to an all-time great in the format. A record-breaking third double century in the format, something that has not been done by any other player since.
Sri Lanka has always been Rohit’s favourite opposition, seeing how he has scored two of his three 200s against them. This match was the second game in a three-ODI series at home against the Lankan Lions.
India lost the first match of the series due to poor batting. But then, Rohit more than made up for it by scoring 208 runs not out. With the help of Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit took India to 392 runs in 50 overs as India defeated Sri Lanka by 141 runs.
3) 140 in 113 deliveries against Pakistan, 2019 CWC

Rohit Sharma peaked as an international cricketer during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He scored 648 runs in that competition in nine innings at an average of 81, scoring five tons and a half-century in the tournament.
His best innings in that World Cup came in the highly anticipated game against Pakistan. While batting first, India put up 336 runs at Old Trafford. While KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored fine 50s, Rohit Sharma stole the show and was named the Player of the Match for scoring 140 runs in 113 balls.
At the absolute peak of the RO-KO pair and of the ODI career of Rohit Sharma.

2) 209 in 158 deliveries against Australia, 2013

This might be the most dramatic inning in Rohit Sharma’s ODI career. This made him the third-ever player to score 200 runs in an ODI inning. Match 7 of the famous India vs Australia seven-match ODI series in 2013. After two matches being washed, the series stood at 2-2 heading into the final game, and India batted first.
In fine form throughout the series, Rohit Sharma stored his magnum opus for the final game. As India batted first, Rohit took the attack to the opposition and started attacking and kept on. Towards the end of the inning, the opener crossed the 200-run mark before being caught out in Bengaluru.
One of the finest innings in modern cricket, this inning was the perfect example of the elegant, lazy stroke play and exquisite timing of Sharma while batting. But there is one more inning that might be the greatest ODI inning of all time.
1) 264 in 173 deliveries against Sri Lanka, 2014

If aliens ever arrived in India and we were to show them some action from our most popular show, this is the innings that should be shown to the ETs. This is THE ODI inning. The best inning may be in international cricket ever.
India, having already won the five-match series against Sri Lanka, came into the fourth game at the Eden Gardens with destruction in mind. Rohit Sharma started hitting from the start and never looked back. This game also included a 200-run partnership between Rohit and Virat.
In the end, The Hitman ended up going way past 200 runs and finished on 264 before getting out at the last ball of the inning. But the funniest bit from this match is how Rohit Sharma alone was enough to defeat Sri Lanka on that day. His personal score of 264 was 13 runs more than the entire Sri Lanka total, which was 251.
To this day, it stands far and away as the highest score in an ODI inning. Saying no player has been close to this score is an understatement. The second-highest score in the format is 237 by Martin Guptill, a full 27 runs less than Rohit’s record.
