5) Virat Kohli – 120 runs
Virat Kohli was the captain of the Indian Cricket Team heading into the first-ever WTC final in 2021 against New Zealand. In that match, he scored a struggling 44, and India was crumpled up for 217. Then, trailing by 32 runs in the second innings, the men in blue struggled and were dismissed for 170. In this inning, Virat only managed to score 13.
In the 2023 final against Australia, Kohli did not have a memorable first inning, scoring just 14 runs as India trailed by 173 runs in the first inning. Then, chasing 443 in the second inning, Kohli was the team’s highest run scorer with 49 as the Indians collapsed for 234.

4) Rohit Sharma – 122 runs
Captain for the second WTC final, the former Indian Test skipper has also played in both the final and has lost in both of those matches. In the first final against the Kwiis in 2021, the Hitman scored 34 in the first inning and 30 in the second, almost giving the team a good start on both occasions but falling short.
In the second WTC final in 2023, Rohit Sharma scored just 15 runs in the first inning against Australia when the team needed him to score big. Then, in the second inning, he scored 43 runs quickly before getting out.
In four innings across two WTC finals, Rohit Sharma has scored 122 runs at an average of 30.50.
3) Steve Smith—155 runs
Steve Smith has played only one World Test Championship final, the one in 2023 that Australia won. In only one appearance in this match, Smooth made his statement, showing why he is considered one of the greatest Test batters of the 21st century.
In the first inning of this match, Smith, along with Travis Head, saved the team from an early collapse and scored 121 runs and played a massive role in taking the team past the 450-run mark. Then, in the second inning, with the team already being in a sizable lead, Smith scored a quick 34 runs.

The Player of the Match for the 2023 World Test Championship final, Head made the largest individual score in WTC final history when he scored 163 in the first inning against India. He did so well in the first inning that when he got out for just 18 in the second inning, it did not matter.

1) Ajinkya Rahane – 199 runs
Surprisingly, Ajinkya Rahane is the highest run scorer in World Test Championship final history. From being the vice captain for the first final in 2021 to making a surprise return to the team in 2023, Ajinkya has played in both the finals and has done relatively well.
In the first match, he made a decent 49 in the first inning but failed to score big and got out for 15 in the second inning against New Zealand. Then, against Australia, Rahane was the highest run scorer for the Indian Cricket Team in the first inning with a solid 89. Then, in the second inning, he was again the team’s highest run scorer with 46.
