On Saturday evening in Hyderabad, SRH gunned down the target of 246 runs to record the second-highest successful run chase in IPL history.
Shreyas Iyer, the PBKS captain, led the way for his side by smashing 82 runs off 36 balls with others playing vital cameos around him as PBKS finished with 245.

In response, SRH, who had lost their last four games and were sitting at the bottom of the table, were bolstered by TraviShek’s sensational opening stand of 171 runs off 12.2 overs. It was one of those instances where Abhishek Sharma outshined Travis Head.
In their stand of 171, Sharma blasted 98 (38), while Head cracked 66 (37). Then, the young Indian opener dominated his stand with Heinrich Klaasen, where Sharma clobbered 43 off 17, while the South African made only 5 off 7.
Abhishek got out in the 17th over, but by that time, his 141-run knock had put SRH close to the finishing line and way ahead in the game, so much so that SRH eventually won with 9 balls to spare.

Sharma’s innings become even more remarkable considering he had scored only 51 runs in the previous five innings. Abhishek not only credited captain Pat Cummins for keeping the team environment positive amid the losses but also made a special mention of his mentor Yuvraj Singh and India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav for giving their support while he struggled for a big score in the previous games.

- 40 balls – Abhishek smashed the fifth-fastest century in IPL history off 40 balls. RCB legend Chris Gayle continues to hold the record for the fastest IPL century, off 27 balls, which he made against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. Following Gayle are Yusuf Pathan (37), David Miller (38), Travis Head (39), and Priyansh Arya (39).
- 1 – Abhishek Sharma now holds the record for the highest score by an SRH batsman in IPL, going past David Warner’s record of 126 vs KKR from IPL 2017.
- 10 – Abhishek hit 10 sixes in his innings, the most an SRH batsman has hit in an IPL innings. The previous record of 8 sixes was held by Warner, Manish Pandey, Klaasen, Head, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
- 171 – Abhishek formed a stand of 171 with Head, which is the second-highest opening stand for SRH in IPL, behind the 185-run partnership between Warner and Bairstow vs RCB in IPL 2019.
