Top 5 highest team totals in ICC Champions Trophy: A thunderous effort from the New Zealand batsman saw them smash the highest team total in ICC Champions Trophy history in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which took place on Wednesday in Lahore.
They broke Australia’s record of 356 runs that they had created earlier in the tournament and ended up with 362/6. Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson cracked terrific centuries before Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips provided sizzling finishing touches to the innings.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first on what was another flat, batting-friendly surface at the Gaddafi Stadium.
After losing Will Young in the eighth over, Williamson and Rachin plundered 164 runs for the second wicket off 154 balls. Rachin raced to his second century of the tournament, scoring 108 runs off 101 balls. He hit 13 fours and a six in his innings before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.
At the other end, Williamson was as clinical as ever. Carrying on his form from the 81 he scored against India, he notched up his 15th ODI century and his third consecutive century in three innings against South Africa. He finished with 102 off 94 balls, an innings laced with 10 fours and two sixes.
Then the two power hitters came to provide a strong flourish to the Kiwi innings. Mitchell whacked 49 off 37, and Phillips blasted 49* off 27 balls and stayed till the end to take New Zealand’s total to 362, a new record in the ICC Champions Trophy.
