On Wednesday, Tom Curran was ruled out from the remainder of the BBL 2023/24 season. Playing for the Sydney Sixers, Curran picked up a fresh knee injury in the game against the Melbourne Stars and will now miss the Sixers’ remaining two league-stage matches. Not only that, a T20 specialist, Tom Curran is also doubtful to feature in the ILT20 tournament in the UAE for the Desert Vipers.
As per the Tom Curran Gets Injured Before IPL 2024, Curran was set to fly to Dubai for the ILT20 matches and miss the BBL finals. However, now he will return to England, and a further assessment of his injury and recovery process will be made there, effectively ruling him out of at least the first half of the ILT20 tournament.
The Sixers confirmed this in their statement:
“The full extent of the injury is currently not known with Curran set to return to the UK in the coming days and undergo further assessment at home.”
It was already a disrupted BBL tournament for Tom Curran, who was suspended for four matches for his altercation with umpire Muhammad Qureshi when he motioned in his pre-match run-up practice despite Qureshi asking him not to. It went ugly, and Curran almost ran into the umpire. He was sanctioned by the officials and suspended for four games.
Curran ends the BBL 2023/24 season with 4 wickets in 4 games and only 8 runs in 3 innings.

Tom Curran was bought at his base price of INR 1.5 crore by RCB in the IPL 2024 auction. Curran is a regarded death-overs specialist, the services that RCB desperately needs, and he has also grown leaps and bounds as a hitter with the bat. Curran has 206 T20 wickets to his name and has scored close to 2000 runs at a strike rate of 142.
