Throughout all eight seasons of the Women’s Big Bash League, the 32-year-old all-rounder has served as the captain of the Sydney Sixers.

Birmingham Phoenix has had three different captains in the past three seasons, with Ellyse Perry Becomes Phoenix Captain. She will be succeeding Sophie Devine, who is from New Zealand and will still be a part of the squad. The team is being coached by Australian Ben Sawyer, who has previously worked with Perry at Sixers and is currently coaching the New Zealand women’s team.
Although Ellyse Perry faced a setback in the shortest format, losing her place in the Australian T20 International side in 2022, she was able to regain her position after a successful tour of India that same year. She held onto her spot in the team until the triumphant T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa in February.
Several Australian women, including Perry, have already been confirmed to participate in the competition, with the number currently standing at eight. Additionally, there are seven men who have committed to playing for Hundred Franchises.
As Ellyse Perry Becomes Phoenix Captain, The Hundred’s third edition is set to begin on August 2, featuring a doubleheader between the Trent Rockets and the Southern Brave (midnight AEST).
