Ten Hag On What Rashford Needs To Keep Form: Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has revealed the path that the team’s star striker Marcus Rashford needs to take if he is to continue the good form he recently found by scoring in his most recent outing.
Coming into the 2024-25 season, Rashford was in poor form. Having scored only seven goals in 33 league games last season, he had gone goalless in the first three matches this season.
But the English attacker found his way to the back of the net during United’s most recent Premier League match against Bretford, which the Red Devils won 3-0 against Southampton on September 14.
This was followed by him bagging two goals against Barnsley in the third round of the FA Cup. In fact, Marcus opened the scoring in what was a 7-0 thumping at the hands of the former PL winners on September 17.

Having found some form, it is crucial for Manchester United that Rashford it. In a recent appearance, Ten Hag highlighted that the 26-year-old needs to be resilient to maintain his new-found form.
“I think every player who is playing in the Premier League, but definitely in this club, needs some resilience. Not any football career is only the way up. It’s also going on the way down, and you have to deal with it. Marcus Rashford is also experienced, so he knows when there are setbacks, how to fight back, how to set his career, and how to set his performance. So he took control of it, and I think he is on the way back. He started the season very good and now he has to continue and to progress.”
The manager then told how the club’s coaching staff has helped Marcus Rashford gain back his sharpness and goal-scoring prowess.
“Probably he needed some help, by backing him, for instance. But at the end of the day, he has to do it by himself. He has to set his life right, he has to set his training attitude right, he has to set his match attitude right. When he sets all of his professionalism, he will perform because he is a class player,” he said.
Finally, Erik Ten Hag commented on how Marcus Rashford finding his form will help the team as a whole.
“It’s very good, of course, that your strikers, they are starting to score when the season is very young. Strikers, they need that belief, and we have now a couple of players who are, in the meantime, on the scoring list, and it is very good as a team, because that will strengthen their belief, and they will come up for more, and they will score more goals now.”
With two wins and two losses, Manchester United is currently 10th on the Premier League table. They will face Crystal Palace in their next game on September 21, followed by their first Europa League game of the season against Twente on September 26.
