Ten Hag Addresses A Key Problem With Man United: Manchester United had an embarrassing defeat against FC Twente in the UEFA Europa League match on September 25.
The Reds took the lead in the first half through a spectacle from Christian Eriksen. But later, they conceded a goal in the second half when Twente’s Sam Lammers made United defenders mere spectators to run through them and score.
After the match, Ten Hag had questioned the mentality of players for being not so good in the later half of the game.
“The goal, it’s [a] team [mistake], a player of Twente can dribble through almost the whole pitch, or half the pitch, without stopping. That is not acceptable, we can’t give a goal away like this. We have seen, again, you have to keep going for the whole game; once you are 1-0 up, you have to keep going and go for the second [goal].”
Now United will meet Tottenham in the English Premier League on September 29, and Ten Hag was speaking to the media ahead of that.
Ten Hag Addresses A Key Problem With Man United Squad
Ten Hag addressed an important issue that Manchester United has been facing for a while. It is their lack of firing in front of the goal. Even in their last match, the attackers, including Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, couldn’t really find the Twente net.
“Not scoring goals. That is the problem, the key area is to score more goals as a team, Ten Hag said to the media.
“We have players across the team who have the ability to score, that is clear, you see all the opportunities we are creating but we are not scoring enough.”
By losing three of their five matches, Manchester United are at 11th on the Premier League table. Tottenham, on the other hand, stays in a position higher than their opponents this weekend with the advantage of goal difference.
