Reaction
Spinner felt that bringing family into the criticism was simply unacceptable.
“Some individuals perceived it negatively; they felt it was disrespectful. I faced a lot of verbal abuse, and it was perhaps the worst I’ve experienced. Unfortunately, even my wife was subjected to offensive comments. I found it unacceptable. Criticizing players is one thing, but bringing families into it and saying hurtful things crosses a line.”
He also understands the importance of speaking up to raise awareness about this particular problem.
“I believe that if players don’t speak out against bad behavior, then others assume it’s acceptable. It’s important that more people speak up and make it clear that such behavior is not okay. Yes, we all want to win, and we may disagree with some things, but we must still treat each other with respect. We can’t behave like animals.”
