Suryakumar Yadav Makes A Revelation About Bumrah: Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav has made an interesting revelation about a condition he put forward to the MI management: he will not face Jasprit Bumrah in the nets!
Following Mumbai’s dominant win over RCB on Thursday night at the Wankhede stadium, wherein Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar made the biggest contributions, SKY made this funny revelation about not having played against Bumrah in the nets for the past few years.
Suryakumar Yadav Makes A Revelation About Bumrah:
Suryakumar said that he made this choice of avoiding batting against Bumrah in the nets to prevent his bat or toes from being broken by Bumrah’s deliveries.
Suryakumar told the broadcaster,
“It’s been almost 2-3 years since I batted against him (Bumrah) in the nets, because he either breaks my bat or my foot! I have told the management that I will not face him in the nets.”
This was in a way a tribute from Suryakumar Yadav, the number 1 ranked ICC men’s T20I batsman, to the greatness of Jasprit Bumrah and the threat the speedster carries. That was further evident against RCB when Bumrah returned with sensational figures of 5/21 on a pitch where MI chased down 197 in 15.3 overs.
This gunning down of the target at such a rapid rate was made possible by Ishan Kishan’s 69 (34) knock and Suryakumar’s 52 (19).
SKY reached his half-century in only 17 balls, his fastest in the IPL and the second-fastest by a Mumbai Indians batsman ever. By taking his second five-wicket haul in the IPL, Bumrah became the first bowler in IPL history to snare a five-for against RCB.
Suryakumar had bagged a duck in his previous match, against Delhi Capitals, when he made his return after a four-month layoff due to ankle and hernia injuries. Against RCB, he clobbered 5 fours and 4 sixes in his 19-ball stay in the middle, in which he scored at a strike rate of 273 to make a mockery of RCB’s 196.
“When I came here, it felt like I never left. When chasing 200 at Wankhede, it is important to know the dew factor. If it is there, then you have to take your chances,” Yadav said.
“I just try to play the field, I have practised these shots a lot. It is just in my muscle memory – I go and enjoy it. The slice over point for six I enjoyed the most.”
