Suresh Raina Comments On Rohit Sharma Poor Form: Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina believes that Indian Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma’s cheap dismissal was the only negative for the team in the triumphant first of three ODIs played yesterday. He also believes that Rohit’s return to form is crucial for India’s chances in the upcoming IC Champions Trophy 2025.
The first India vs England ODI was played on February 6 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. England won the toss to bat first, and their opening pair gave the team a solid start before a top-order collapse. Jacob Bethell and captain Jos Buttler scored 50s in the middle order, but the Three Lions could only muster up 248 runs.
In response, the Indian opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma got out for cheap. But then, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel scored 50s to take India over the line with over 10 overs to spare.

While the Indian bowling attack showed that they could take wickets and restrict sides to low totals on batting-friendly pitches, India’s batting order, especially the middle order, scored some good runs.
However, if there is some concern in regards to the Indian Cricket Team’s performance in this match, it is the continued poor form of captain Rohit Sharma. For some time now, the skipper has been in bad form across formats and levels of cricket.
Rohit had a disastrous Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, playing three matches and scoring just 31 runs in five innings. Following that series, due to a new mandate by the BCCI, Sharma and other national team players played in the Ranji Trophy. There too the Indian captain failed, scoring 3 and 29 runs in two innings for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has now chimed in with his views in regard to how India played against England and what Rohit Sharma’s form means to the team. The CSK legend said that the captain’s dismissal was the only negative in India’s win over England.
“Rohit Sharma’s ordinary dismissal was the only negative from the match. The wicket was good for batting, and Rohit could have scored runs with a bit of application. His return to form is very important for the team before the ICC Champions Trophy. Rohit needs runs, and he will have to do it against England. I am hoping to see him returning to his best,” said Raina.
India defeated England by four wickets in the first match of this three-ODI series. Every result in this series is crucial, seeing how the 2025 Champions Trophy will commence soon after the end of this series.
