Sunil Narine Scored First 100 Of His Career: Sunil Narine has joined an exclusive list of elite IPL players after scoring a 100 against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
Narine scored the first century of his professional career when he notched up 108 in 56 balls against RR in Match 31 of IPL 2024. Because of his blistering knock, KKR was able to set up a mammoth total of 223/6 in their 20 overs.
This century makes Sunil Narine not only one of the greatest bowlers in IPL history but also one of the league’s most underrated all-rounder.

This ton also means that the Trinidad & Tobago native became only the third player in IPL history to score a 100 and take a hat trick, joining Shane Watson and Rohit Sharma in the list.
Shane Watson’s inclusion in the list is no surprise. Arguably the greatest all-rounder in IPL history, Wotto scored his first of four IPL centuries for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings in the 2013 season. He then took his one and only IPL hat-trick the very next season against Sunrisers Hyderabad dismissing – Shikhar Dhawan, Moises Henriques, and Karn Sharma.

The most surprising name on this list is Rohit Sharma. Considered one of the greatest batters of the current era, the Indian cricket team captain was known for bowling a few overs of off-spin early in his career. That was what he was doing while playing for Deccan Chargers in 2009 in a match against MI. On that day, he dismissed Abhishek Nayar, Harbhajan Singh, and KP Duminy to take a hat-trick. His first century came in 2012 while playing for MI against KKR.
Sunil Narine scored his IPL century yesterday vs RR, but he took his IPL hat-trick over a decade ago. In the 2013 season, Narine picked up the 10th hat trick in IPL history when he dismissed David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood, and Gurkeerat Singh on consecutive deliveries.
But that’s not all. Not only did Sunil Narine become part of an exclusive club, but also founded one with his exploits. Apart from scoring a ton in the match against RR, but he also took two wickets and took a catch. Thus, he became the first player in IPL history to score a century, take a wicket, and a catch.
Despite all that, it was the Rajasthan Royals who won the match at the end due to a splendid ton by Jos Buttler.
With that loss, KKR is still second on the league table with four wins and eight points in six games. They will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their next match on April 21 in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
