Steven Taylor Catch of Rizwan: USA cricketer Steven Taylor produced one of the greatest catches in T20 World Cup history on Thursday when he took a one-handed stunner first slip to dismiss Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan.
Pakistan kicked off their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against co-hosts USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. USA skipper Monank Patel won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The hosts got off to a desired start as Saurabh Netravalkar dismissed Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan in the second over of the innings.
As much as it was Netravalkar’s wicket for earning the outside edge of Rizwan’s bat – it was a terrific delivery: in line of the stumps at a perfect length that kept Rizwan rooted at the crease and slanting just a bit away to take the outside edge – it was as much Taylor’s wicket for his jaw-dropping catch.
After the edge, the ball flew to the right of Taylor, who was at first slip. He judged the ball well and put in a dive.
The ball was flying far from him and it needed Taylor to stretch out his right hand. He managed to get his hand under the ball and slid on the ground to complete a sensational catch. The fans were left stunned, and so was Rizwan. The commentators went wild upon seeing the epic catch from Steven Taylor.

Meanwhile, talking about the match, Pakistan have posted 159/7 on the board. The game hangs in balance at the halfway mark. USA must feel they have done well to restrict Pakistan to 159, and they would hope to make an upset in this game.
Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with 44 runs, which he scored in 43 balls. Shadab Khan scored 40 off 25, while the late impetus was provided by Iftikhar Ahmed (18 off 14) and Shaheen Afridi (23* off 16).
USA had chased down 195 against Canada in the opening match of the tournament. But in this game, they are up against the Pakistani pace quartet of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Amir.
