Steve Smith Heaps Praise On Riyan Parag Sixes: Former Australia captain Steve Smith was heavily impressed with the “mature” innings from Rajasthan Royals youngster Riyan Parag against the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Thursday night.
Parag, who has been promoted to number 4 in IPL 2024, is finally being able to repay the faith and investment that the Royals have made in him over the years. After scoring 43 (29) against the Lucknow Super Giants, Parag registered his best IPL score of 84* (45) against DC, which eventually helped RR win the match by 12 runs.
In the new role of number 4, Riyan Parag showed great maturity and balance in playing the situation after RR lost their top three for only 36 runs. Parag scored his first 26 runs in 26 balls before going hammer and tongs by smashing 58 runs in only 19 balls.

In the last over of the innings, he took down Anrich Nortje, one of the fastest bowlers in the world, in a sensational manner by blasting three fours and two jaw-dropping sixes.
Speaking with Star Sports, Steve Smith heaped praise on Parag’s innings construction.
Smith said,
“Yeah, I think he’s matured a lot, and I think just the way the innings was constructed, he took the pressure off early by just knocking it around, playing really smart cricket, building a few partnerships after the loss of 3 wickets. And then just set a really strong foundation to go hard at the back end, and when he decided to pull the trigger, he did it to effect and connected with the middle of the bat consistently, getting them up to 185.
“Just getting back to that last over, if they had only given 10 runs it would be a completely different story. The ability to chip one of the best bowlers in the world out of the park changed the whole complexion of the game,” Smith added.
