SL vs IND Match Highlights And Report-1st ODI: The first ODI match of the series between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie – this was the second tied ODI match between these two sides – on Friday in Colombo.
On a slow and turning pitch, India restricted Sri Lanka to 230. In the chase, India were in a strong position at 75/0 but then slipped up, losing regular wickets. In the end, India went from 189/5 to 230 all-out, losing their last two wickets for zero runs when only one run was required to win and the game ended in a tie.
Dunith Wellalage was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant all-round show – 57* (65) with the bat and 2/39 with the ball.

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Mohammed Siraj drew the first blood for India as Avishka Fernando’s leading edge went straight to deep thirdman. Even though Sri Lanka didn’t lose any more wicket in the powerplay, India kept a lid on the scoring rate, with the hosts managing 37 runs in 10 overs.
That pressure resulted in a flow of wickets after the first powerplay. Shivam Dube, playing his first ODI match since his debut in 2019, trapped Kusal Mendis lbw before Sadeera Samarawickrama gave a catch to Gill at short cover off Axar Patel.
Captain Asalanka came out with attacking intent but was outfoxed by a turning leg-break from Kuldeep Yadav and was caught at first slip by Rohit Sharma. Washington Sundar trapped Pathum Nissanka lbw for 56(75) to further sink the hosts.
At 101/5, Sri Lanka were in danger of not reaching even 200. However, the lower-order showed some fight. All-rounder Dunith Wellalage cracked 7 fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten knock of 67* (65). He got support from Janith Liyanage (20 off 26), Wanindu Hasaranga (24 off 35) and Akila Dananjaya (17 off 21).
These contributions from the all-rounders helped Sri Lanka end with a total of 230/8. For India, Axar was the pick of the bowlers, returning with figures of 2/33 in 10 overs.

India the chase, India were off in a blazing fashion as captain Rohit smoked a sixer on the second ball of the innings. Rohit carried on with his attacking mode and push Sri Lanka on the backfoot with a blistering half-century.
The Indian skipper smashed three sixes and seven fours in his knock of 58 runs off 47 balls that gave India a superb start. However, once the opening stand of 75 runs was broke, India slipped shockingly.
Gill got out while playing a slog while Rohit was lbw, both falling to Wellalage. Virat Kohli looked solid in his knock of 24 before getting out to Hasaranga, trapped lbw. Washington Sundar was promoted to number 4 but was dismissed for only five runs by Akila Dananjaya. Shreyas Iyer was bowled by pacer Asitha Fernando for 23 runs.
KL Rahul and Axar Patel steadied the innings and pushed India toward the target with their stand of57 (92). However, the Lankans bounced back through their spinners. Hasaranga removed Rahul and Kuldeep while Asalanka got rid of Axar.
Shivam Dube blasted two sixes and brought India on the brink of victory. But, with one run to win and two wickets left, the Sri Lankan captain Asalanka dismissed Dube and Arshdeep on consecutive balls via lbw and the match ended with scores level. Since this is a bilateral series, there is no Super Over for tied ODIs.
