Shubman Gill Bowled Without Playing A Shot: Shubman Gill was part of an incredible moment in the 2024 Duleep trophy. However, his participation in it was to his detriment, as the Indian opener was bowled by bowler Navdeep Saini without even attempting a shot.
This year’s Duleep Trophy is a special tournament, as most national team regulars and prospects are playing in the four-team red-ball competition. This is because the Indian Cricket Team squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh will be picked on the basis of this competition.
India A and India B are playing in the opening game of the tournament. It was the A-team that won the toss in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium and decided to bowl first.
Opening in the second inning, India A captain, Gill, along with Mayank Agarwal, got off to a solid start as the team reached the 50-run mark without losing a wicket.

The final ball of the 14th over was bowled by Navdeep Saini while Shubman was batting at 25. The delivery landed on good length in the line of the fifth/sixth wicket. Seeing this, Shubman Gill decided to leave the ball.
Not only was the ball not going to go over the wicket, but after the bounce, it headed straight towards the stumps. In one of the most beautiful sights in cricket, the ball kissed the stumps and sent the bails flying. Meanwhile, Gill stood in place after not having attempted a shot, believing the ball was far away from the wickets.

Before Gill and Co. came out to bat, it was the B-team who batted first. On a pitch that provides a little movement at the start of the game but settles into a good batting surface, India B openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Abhimanyu Easwaran get off to fine starts but lose their wickets for 30 and 13 runs each. At this point, brothers Sarfaraz and Musheer Khan batter together in what must have been a special moment for the Khan family.
And while Sarfaraz, who has already made his national team debut in red-ball cricket, was dismissed for nine runs, Musheer stood firm at one end. From here, all batters were dismissed for single-digit scores. Rishabh Pant for 7, Nitish Kumar Reddy for a duck, Washington Sundar for a duck, and Sai Kishore for 1.
With a score of 97/7, it looked like India B would collapse. But Musheer had other intentions. The Mumbai batter built a partnership with bowler Navdeep Saini. And while Saini scored a valiant 50, Musheer Khan would end up scoring a monstrous 181 in 373 balls, batting the whole day and taking his team to a solid total of 321 when it was all said and done.
At the end of Day 2, India A is at 134/2 with Riyan Parag and KL Rahul batting at 27 and 23, respectively.
