Shardul Thakur Replaced Mohsin Khan For LSG: Shardul Thakur To Replace An Injured Mohsin Khan For The Lucknow Super Giants; Another Blow To The Side’s Pace Department
Indian fast-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is set to replace Mohsin Khan and sign for the Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. This comes after he went unsold in the mega auction.
Shardul is a 10-year veteran in the Indian Premier League and has had some great years in the league with the Chennai Super Kings, even taking 20+ wickets in 2021.
Shardul has also played for the Indian Cricket Team across all formats, where he has shown more of his all-round skills, playing some crucial innings with the bat lower down the order and taking early wickets.
However, due to falling out of favour with the national team, coupled with a few injuries in recent times, Thakur went unsold in the mega auction for IPL 2025. Since then, the veteran all-rounder has been doing excellent in the domestic circuit, especially in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, where he has been performing with the bat and the ball.
Shardul Thakur Replaced Mohsin Khan For LSG
News is now coming out of the LSG camp that Shardul Thakur is set to replace Indian pacer Mohsin Khan. Mohsin, who showed promise early in his IPL career but then suffered career-threatening injuries, has been getting treatment at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for an ACL injury he picked up a few months ago.
Mohsin then suffered a strain in his calf stemming from his ACL injury while in the nets for the Super Giants and is now likely out of the tournament.
The Lucknow Super Giants had a few holes in their side coming out of the auction. Since then, their troubles have only grown. The entire Indian pace-bowling core of this team is currently out injured. Akash Deep, who made his debut for India last year, is currently recovering at the CoE, so is express fast-bowler Mayank Yadav.
Then there is Avesh Khan, who is still to link up with the team as he is recovering from a knee injury.

A couple of days ago, LSG bowling coach Zaheer Khan told the media about his team’s woes in regard to their pace bowlers, saying,
“The situation is dynamic for some of our players due to injuries. But it’s time that we look for positives and adopt things to tackle the situation amicably. Some players are at the National Cricket Academy and others are spending time with their physios. Right now, it will not be right to say anything about this. The situation will be dynamic this season.”
While there is no official word from the team yet, it is understood that Shardul Thakur has been informed about being a replacement and will soon be travelling to Vishakhapatnam for the Lucknow Super Giants’ first match against the Delhi Capitals in the ACA/VDCA International Stadium on Monday, March 24.
