About Taking On Sam Curran
He opened up about choosing Sam Curran’s over to hit the runs:
“I decided to target Sam Curran’s over. It was a challenge to score runs from the other end. I was trying to take on the bowler in the second-to-last over, as it was our best chance to win the match against England.”
About Taking Responsibilities
Hope said that he didn’t want to put the responsibility of finishing off the game on someone else, as it might get too risky as the game was reaching the final over.
“I was confident that we had the game in our hands after hitting the second six in the 49th over. I wanted to complete the chase in that over itself, as leaving the task to someone else could have caused a problem.”
Hope Breaks Record
Hope became the 11th Windies player and the third fastest to score 5000 runs in ODI cricket. Speaking about that, he put the team above his individual gains.
“I want to win games for my team, and that’s the most important thing. The records are part and parcel of the game. I am happy that we won the match.”
