Shadley van Schalkwyk is a South African-born American cricketer who represents the United States national team. He plays in Major League Cricket (MLC) for the Los Angeles Knight Riders. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.
He has played domestic cricket for Seattle Thunderbolts and Free State, and also came through as a fast-medium bowler for the Eagles and Free State. He studied at Wynberg Boys’ High School, which is known for alumni like Jacques Kallis and Allan Lamb. In 2006, he impressed with the bat during a school tour to Pakistan and later joined the South African Academy.

Shadley van Schalkwyk studied at Wynberg High School, the same school that produced Jacques Kallis. He struggled badly in the beginning and even called home in his first week, asking to leave, but his mother refused because he had not been accepted into any other school. He later said the school helped him because they allowed him to be himself instead of forcing him to change. He put all his focus into cricket, and that became his main drive in life.
