Australian legend Adam Gilchrist asked Sehwag if it’s possible for Indian players to compete in other T20 leagues than IPL. Sehwag’s reply was bizarre rather than constructive. He said that Indians are rich and ‘don’t play in T20 leagues of poor countries’. He didn’t stop there. He went on to say that the offer he received from Big Bash League is just as little as the amount that he spends on his holidays.
“There is no chance. We (Indians) are rich people and we don’t play in T20 leagues of poor countries. I once got an offer from the Big Bash League and the money they were offering was less. I spend that much amount on my holidays. Even Sky Sports wanted me on their panel but they couldn’t afford me,”
Sehwag also talked about his attacking mode of play.
“My coach used to teach me about the technique but I was aware that hitting fours and sixes require skills and not the technique. I grew up with that philosophy and managed to take it to an international level.
“I started taking cricket seriously after the 10th standard. I didn’t look back and played in various age groups before making my debut for the Indian team”, Sehwag said
