Sanju Samson Not Selected For Team India: Sanju Samson has one of the biggest fan followings for a cricketer in India. The Kerela and Rajasthan Royals captain has amassed a huge fandom despite not regularly featuring for the national team. Well, that might just be the reason for his massive fan following. He has now opened up about the disappointment of his fans after he was not picked for the ongoing India vs. Australia T20I series.
Sanju Samson Not Selected For Team India
Following their World Cup final loss to the Aussies, India is taking on the Kangaroos in a 5-match T20 series. Most senior players have been rested for the series as Suryakumar Yadav has been named the side’s captain.
Despite the side being filled with youngsters and non-regular national team players, selectors could not find a place for Sanju Samson in the side.
Despite being one of the cleanest hitters of the ball and being a great keeper, the 29-year-old has consistently found himself out of the national team setup. Despite an average of over 55 in 13 ODIs he has played, he has regularly been on the bench, or worse, out of the team altogether.

In a recent interview on Dhanya Varma’s YouTube channel, Sanju discussed how his fans have been disappointed by him not being selected in the national side, but was thankful for the chances he has received so far.
“People call me the unluckiest cricketer, but where I’ve reached currently, it’s much more than what I thought I could,” he said.
Samson followed up on that statement by highlighting how he has had the backing of Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the past –

“Rohit Sharma was the first or second person who came to me and talked. He told me ‘Hey Sanju, wassup. You performed well in the IPL, but hit too many sixes against Mumbai Indians. You bat really well’. I had great support from him.”
Sanju Samson most recently played for India in a series against Ireland in August under Jasprit Bumrah. He was then named the reserve keeper-batter for the Asian Games squad, filled with young talent. He was also a reserve player for the Asia Cup but did not get a chance to play in either series. He will appear in front of the masses next in IPL 2023, where he will lead Rajasthan Royals.
