Sanjay Manjrekar on Ravindra Jadeja: Ahead of India’s semi-final against England, commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has made another spicy remark on Ravindra Jadeja while drawing of the senior all-rounder with Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
While the latter duo have been brilliant in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, Jadeja has been lackluster in both departments.
Until the end of the Super 8 stage, Kuldeep has picked up 7 wickets in only 3 matches at an economy of 6.25; Axar has picked up 5 wickets at an economy of 7.21 and contributed 35 runs important runs with the bat.
Jadeja, on the other hand, has been disappointing with the ball, having managed only one wicket and leaking runs at an economy of 7.8. With the bat, he’s scored only 16 runs in three innings.

Veteran commentator and former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar opined that Jadeja is a “limited” bowler in comparison to Axar and Kuldeep in terms of variations and changes in bowling. The 58-year-old feels the other two spinners have more to offer than Jadeja in T20 cricket.
Speaking on ESPNcricinfo,
“I think compared to Axar and Kuldeep Yadav, maybe Jadeja is a little limited in comparison. Axar Patel has those little subtleties, change of angle, pace and what he does. Jadeja is a very disciplined, accurate bowler who will feed off a good pitch, and a batter makes a mistake, he gets you out. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have more to offer than Ravindra Jadeja.”
It has been made more clear and clear in this tournament that Axar is perhaps a better all-rounder than Jadeja in T20 cricket on form and offerings. This is something that can be vindicated from the fact that Rohit Sharma, the India captain, has given Axar 14 overs so far and Jadeja only 10 overs.
Manjrekar believes India have earmarked Axar as their first-choice left-arm spinner for this competition over Jadeja.
“I think India made a commitment to Axar Patel as the first-choice left-arm spinner. So not only with performance that Jadeja has been relegated to number three, that is also about the captain who believes which is the better left-arm spinner for him.”
