Sanjay Manjrekar Lauds Rohit Sharma: Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar lauded Rohit Sharma for his positive intent on Day 4 of the India vs Bangladesh second Test. With Bangladesh’s first innings taking 3 days to complete, Rohit led India to play aggressively in the first innings, opening the door for the hosts 7-wicket victory.

Manjerekar called this ‘a champion’s approach’ and called the team ‘one of the top two sides in the world’. Manjerekar also talked about the legacy that Rohit will leave behind as a captain.
“This is the legacy that Rohit Sharma will leave behind as captain. This is how he thinks. A strong team, which is one of the top two sides in the world, also showed the champion’s approach, realizing so much time has been lost. And he leads by example, exactly how he did in the 50-over World Cup. So, this is what Rohit Sharma will leave behind as his contribution to Indian cricket.
“You do something only for the team and play to win. He does not mind in the process, like in the 50-over World Cup… He didn’t get a big hundred on anything like that. Even here, was quite happy to put his wicket on the line and suddenly we have a Test match which India could win. You have to applaud Rohit Sharma for that.”
India had declared the first innings after reaching 285 runs and losing 9 wickets. In the second Innings, Indian bowlers dismantled Bangladesh batters and took them out for 145 runs, which gave India a 95-run target to win. With the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s second consecutive half-century, India eased to the target and won by 7 wickets.
India will now play a 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The first match of this will start on October 6 at the Gwalior International Cricket Stadium, Madhya Pradesh.
