Sami Zayn On Kevin Owens Using Banned Move In WWE: WWE Superstar Sami Zayn has commented on his long-time friend Kevin Owens using a banned move in the company on Cody Rhodes. Sami also recalled all the times he took that move on the independent circuit.
Owens challenged Rhodes for the latter’s Undisputed WWE Championship at the Saturday Night’s Main Event show earlier this month. The two have been in a fierce rivalry ever since Cody teamed up with Kevin’s long-time rival Roman Reigns at the Bad Blood PLE.
Towards the end of the title match at SNME, Kevin Owens introduced a steel chair after the referee was knocked out. But then, Cody Rhodes turned the tables and ended up using the chair to hit his finisher as the referee woke up and counted three.

After the match ended controversially, the Prizefighter attacked the champion after the match ended, ultimately hitting him with a Package Piledriver. This is a move that Owens used to perform before signing with the WWE, back when he was named Kevin Steen. Due to the complicated nature and serious risks associated with this move, this, like all piledrivers, is banned from the WWE.
While Owens used this move after the show went off-air, it is still a massive deal. It is also highly unlikely that other wrestlers will be allowed to use this move anytime soon or with any regularity.

Sami Zayn, who has been a long-time friend and rival of Kevin Owens, has now commented on the use of this dangerous and banned move in the WWE. On a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Zayn highlighted how he used to take this move regularly from Kevin before the two signed with the WWE and how it has affected his health.
“I mean, pretty crazy to see the Package Piledriver on WWE TV, first and foremost. I feel like I used to take that move a lot. My neck is not so good nowadays, and it’s probably better that I haven’t taken that move in a long time,” he said. “It was almost like seeing a ghost. You know what? I mean, it was very strange, like a memoir of a past life. For me, personally, just seeing that was kind of a bit of a surreal moment,” he said.
While Sami and Kevin were friends during their last interactions on WWE TV, the way Owens has turned heel and is attacking all his former friends, including hitting a piledriver on Randy Orton, it is likely that after his feud with Cody Rhodes ends, he will be gunning for Sami Zayn.
