SA20 DSG vs JSK Qualifier 2 Report: A proper mauling from Heinrich Klaasen and Wiaan Mulder ended the Joburg Super Kings’ fairytale comeback ride in the SA20 2024 season, one step away from the final.
With a comprehensive 69-run victory at the Wanderers Stadium in Qualifier 2, the Durban Super Giants booked their place in the final, to be played on Saturday against Aiden Markram’s Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Cape Town.
It is a fair and fitting finale as Durban and the Sunrisers have, without a doubt, been the two best teams in the tournament.

Durban Super Giants vs Joburg Super Kings As it happened
Playing in front of the home supporters, Joburg had defeated Paarl Royals in the Eliminator on Wednesday, but Durban, and in particular Klaasen, proved too hot to handle for Faf du Plessis’ side. Faf won the toss and elected to chase, but he would have hoped to be set a target of less than 212 that his side got.
As per SA20 DSG vs JSK Qualifier 2 Report, Quinton de Kock and Matthew Breetzke started in fine fashion, scoring 35 runs in the first four overs, before Durban lost both openers in quick succession, and then JJ Smuts followed them too. Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s scratchy innings saw him score 35 runs in 23 balls. At 95/4 at the start of the 13th over, Joburg would have been confident of stopping Durban at 180. But then Klaasen and Mulder happened.

Klaasen was 15 (13) and Mulder was 12 (9) at the end of the 14th over before both teed off spectacularly. They took 29 runs off the 15th over, bowled by Imran Tahir; 25 runs off the next two overs; and 29 runs from the 18th over, by Sam Cook. The pair added 101 runs in only 38 balls with some of the most destructive hitting you would have seen in this tournament. Klaasen walloped 3 fours and 7 sixes in his 74 (30), and Mulder hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his 50* (23).
A target of 212 was still reachable, given that the Wanderers is one of the best venues for batters in the competition. However, once both the in-form JSK openers were dismissed—Faf du Plessis by Naveen-ul-Haq and Leus du Plooy by Reece Topley—inside three overs, the game felt virtually done and dusted. From thereon, there were only formalities remaining. No Joburg batsman could score more than 30 runs, while Junior Dala ended up with a four-wicket haul.
SA20 DSG vs JSK Qualifier 2 Report Man of the Match
Heinrich Klaasen was the Player of the Match in Qualifier 2 for his blistering knock of 74 runs in 30 balls.
