RR vs MI Match Highlights And Report-IPL: An absolutely phenomenal bowling show from Sandeep Sharma with both new and old balls earned him his maiden IPL five-wicket haul in his 119th IPL game. That restricted MI to an under-par score of 179, of which RR made light work through Yashasvi Jaiswal’s second IPL century. RR won by nine wickets and is now only one step away from sealing a playoff spot.

MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. Mumbai’s innings could be divided into three parts: before, during, and after the 99 (52) partnership between Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.
Boult drew first blood in the first over by dismissing Rohit Sharma, as he had done at the Wankhede earlier. Rohit top-edged his slog to Samson. Sandeep Sharma, who had been out of action for the past three weeks due to injury, made an instant impact with the wickets of Kishan, edging to Samson, and Suryakumar Yadav, who mishit his flick to long-on.
MI sent Nabi up in the order. The veteran Afghanistan batter hit a couple of fours and a six in his 23 (17) before falling to Chahal, who claimed his 200th IPL wicket.
Then came a brilliant fifth-wicket partnership between Tilak and Wadhera, who was playing his first game of the season. The duo started off steadily with a boundary an over for a few overs. MI were 101/4 at the 13-over mark when the pair tore into Avesh Khan for 19 runs, and Chahal was smoked for three sixes in the 16th over.
Boult returned to send back Wadhera for 49 (24), but the Kiwi pacer conceded a six from Tilak. Then, MI lost a spate of wickets again as the last two overs yielded only 9 runs. Hardik, who promoted himself over Tim David, scored 10 (10).
Sandeep took three scalps in the last over, including Varma for 65 (45), all three caught in the deep, to complete his five-for. MI managed only 28 runs for 5 wickets in their last four overs. Sandeep ended with outstanding figures of 5/18.

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was still finding form this season, went gung-ho as expected. Hardik bowled the first over and was creamed for a couple of fours by Buttler before Bumrah conceded only two runs in the second over and debutant Nuwan Thusara conceded six singles.
The second half of the powerplay was dominated by the RR openers. Coetzee leaked 20 runs, while Bumrah was also taken for two fours, and Thusara was smacked for four fours as RR closed the powerplay at 61/0. The match was tilted heavily toward the home team before rain intervened.
After a 40-minute rain break, Piyush Chawla bowled Buttler for 35 (25), breaking the 74-run opening stand. Jaiswal didn’t allow MI to come back in the game and continued to thwart the bowlers, in the process bringing up his first fifty of the season off 31 balls.
Buttler’s dismissal didn’t make any difference as boundaries flowed with ease from both ends. The young opener even pulled Bumrah for a six and a four and moved into the 90s with a six to Coetzee. Jaiswal reached his second IPL century, off 59 balls, and RR recorded an emphatic 9-wicket victory.
Score summary: Mumbai Indians 179/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 65, Sandeep Sharma 5/18); Rajasthan Royals 183/1 in 18.4 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 104*, Piyush Chawla 1/33). RR defeated MI by 9 wickets.
