Roman Reigns SmackDown Return After Four Months: Roman Reigns made his first appearance on Friday Night Smackdown this week to confront and attack the New Bloodline, led by his former enforcer Solo Sikoa.
Roman returned to WWE after about four months on last weekend’s Summerslam Premium Live Event. In the Main Event match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship between Sikoa and champion Cody Rhodes, the Head of the Table returned during the ‘Bloodline Rules’ match and attacked Solo, helping Rhodes to win the match.
Reigns won the Universal Championship back in August 2020. At WrestleMania 38 in 2022, he defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event to unify that title with the WWE Championship. He was the sole men’s world champion in WWE until the World Heavyweight Championship was introduced in 2023. His title reign of a whopping 1316 days was ended at WrestleMania 40 by Cody Rhodes.
Ever since that loss, Roman Reigns has been absent from WWE TV. That was until Summerslam when he returned after months of Solo Sikoa taking over The Bloodline in his absence, recruiting new members, attacking Jimmy Uso and Paul Heyman, and calling out Roman himself. The former WWE Champion returned at the Biggest Party of the Summer with a t-shirt with OTC (Original Tribal Chief) written on it.
Roman Reigns SmackDown Return After Four Months
Following his Summerslam return, Solo called out Reigns on this week’s Friday Night Smackdown. It was announced that the Big Dog would make an appearance on the show. So in the main event segment, the New Bloodline (without an injured Jacob Fatu) called Roman to the ring, prompting him to appear on the Blue Brand for the first time after four long months.
Without speaking a word, he rushed towards the ring, meeting Tama Tonga outside and laying him out. He then laid out Tanga Loa and attacked both with the steel steps. Roman Reigns then entered the ring and attacked Solo Sikoa. But before he could hit a spear, the New Tribal Chief was pulled out.
As Tama and Tanga punched Roman once more, Solo fled. But Reigns got the advantage soon enough. He speared Tama Tonga through the barricade before brutalising Tanga Loa with a chair in the rind before hitting one last spear to end the show.
Earlier in the show, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis admitted that he had been discussing a WWE Championship rematch with Roman Reigns. So while Cody Rhodes might be defending that title against Kevin Owens at Bash at the Berlin, there might be a title program soon for Roman. But that will likely come after sorting his business with Solo and crew.
