Rohit Sharma vs Inzamam-ul-Haq: Apart from leading India’s thumping win over England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, India captain Rohit Sharma has had to deal with the saga that has sparked up against former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, when he asked the Pakistani legend to “open his brain” after Inzamam had implied indirectly that the Indian team had been tampering the ball to get it to reverse during their victory over Australia.
After India’s 24-run victory over Australia in their last Super 8 match, Inzamam said that the “umpires should be alert to such things” while referring to Arshdeep Singh getting the ball to reverse in the 15th over of the innings.
Ahead of the semi-final, when Rohit was told about Inzamam’s accusation, the Indian skipper explained that during the day game, the ball starts to reverse earlier and the square on the ground is also dry, which aids this process.
“I Still Maintain My Stance”: Rohit Sharma vs Inzamam-ul-Haq
After the semi-final, Inzamam has hit back at the Indian skipper. He has lashed out at Rohit for trying to teach the teacher of reverse swing.
Speaking on Pakistan’s 24 News HD, the 54-year-old former Pakistani skipper said,
“We shall definitely use our brains but the first thing is that he (Rohit) admitted that it’s happening. So it means what we observed is correct. Secondly, Rohit does not need to tell us how reverse swing works, under how much sun, on what pitch; you don’t teach something to someone who actually taught it to the world. Tell him it’s not right to say these things.”
“I had only given suggestions to the umpires, that keep your eyes open since the ball was moving around in the 15th over, and I still maintain my stance. I would again say to them ‘Keep your eyes open’. What’s happening? If the umpires too use their brain, it will be better for everyone involved.”

It would be interesting to see if Rohit will respond to Inzamam’s latest remark. But for now, the India captain has his focus on Saturday’s final against South Africa in Barbados.
