Rohit Sharma Points At Rishabh Pant Shot: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma talked about Rishabh Pant’s unnecessary shot selection that eventually led to the wicketkeeper-batter’s dismissal. In the match, India ended up losing by 184 runs and thus are trailing in the series 1-2.
Pant’s wicket came in the 58th over when India was at 124, losing 3 wickets. India needed to hold on for the day to at least draw the match, and Pant was supposed to play wisely rather than trying for impossible shots.
In Travis Head’s delivery, Pant tried to go all in but ended up in Mitchell Marsh’s hands. Pant was out for 30/104. This wicket was costly as India lost the remaining 6 wickets while adding just 34 runs.

India vs Australia 4th Test: Rohit Sharma Points At Rishabh Pant Shot Selection
In the post-match presser, Rohit Sharma was asked about Pant’s shot selection, and the captain replied:
“Everyone is disappointed about the result. He needs to understand what is required of himself rather than anyone telling him. In the past, he has given us a lot of success. As a captain, there’s a mixed reaction. We back when it comes off but when it doesn’t, is frustrating. There has to be a balance.
“As a captain it’s very hard to have conversation when it’s given him a lot of success. It’s just about the situation. If there’s risk-percentage, do you want to take risk? I know Rishabh for a long time and I understand his cricket. There have been conversations in the past. It’s not that he doesn’t understand what the team needs him. There’s a fine line between telling him what to do and what not do,” Sharma concluded.
