Rohit’s exclusion is due to the poor performance in batting as well as captaincy. The T20 World Cup 2024 winning captain is on the verge of 2 Test series in the raw, the 3-0 home defeat aganst new Zealand, and 2-1 trailing against Australia in he BGT 2024-25.
Rohit’s batting form has been catestrophic since the New Zealand series as the batter even failed to perform in Australia with lackluster scores of 3, 6, 10, 3 , and 9 in the last 5 innings. After the loss in the 4th Test at MCG, pundits and fans alike asked for dropping Rohit from the 5th Test and including the young gun Shubhman Gill. Shubhman gill is the second highest rubscorer for India in the format in the year of 2024 after prolific opener Yashavi Jaiswal.
India vs Australia 5th Test will be taking place at the Sydney Cicket Ground from 3 January to 7 January. It’s a must win match for India as the 2021-23 WTC finalists will look to tie the BGT series and keep their hopes to qualify for the WTC 2025 final.
