“It wasn’t easy to digest, but life moves on. You have to move on in life. But, honestly, it was tough. It was not so easy to just move on.
“I was shattered and frustrated for the first few days. I had no idea what to do and it was difficult to move on. My family and friends rallied around me but the setback was hard to digest.
“Winning the World Cup was the ultimate prize and I grew up watching the ODI World Cup. I am proud of my team and the way we played throughout the tournament. We won ten consecutive matches. I couldn’t ask for more.
“We made mistakes but that happens in all the games. You can have a near-perfect game but you can’t have a perfect game.
Rohit thanked Indian fans for the support they showed during the loss.
“I want to thank the Indian fans for supporting us throughout the tournament. Instead of getting angry and frustrated with our defeat in the final, they stood by us in the challenging times,”
