Rodrygo Responds to the Ballon dOr Snub: Rodrygo has been incredible for Real Madrid last season. The player was an important part of the Real Madrid team, which went on to win the UEFA Champions League and La Liga. He netted 17 times and assisted 9 times for the mighty White.
But what haunts Rodrygo is the lack of credit that he gets, and he often gets overshadowed by the stars in Real Madrid like Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and now Kylian Mbappe. Now he has been omitted from the recent Ballon d’Or list of 30.
Another problem Rodrygo might have is the infamous ‘bias’ in the Ballon d’Or that even star players like Mo Salah experience. Salah was also surprisingly omitted from the top 30 Ballon d’Or nominations.
Brazilian superstar Neymar had come in support of Rodrygo following his omission from the list. Neymar said that Rodrygo is easily in the Top 5.
Rodrygo’s teammates at Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, are the favorites to win the award this season.
‘I think I deserved it’: Rodrygo Responds to the Ballon dOr Snub
At last, the player responded to the Ballon d’Or snub. He thinks he deserved it.
“I was upset, I think I deserved it. I don’t want to belittle the players who are there, but I think I had a place in the 30. It was a surprise… But there’s not much I can do, I’m not the one who decides these things.”
Rodrygo thinks his versatility might have just become a villain for him
“Often, I’m just filling spaces. Is someone missing there? Put Rodrygo in. Is someone missing on the right? Rodrygo. Is someone missing as No. 9? Rodrygo. That’s it. It may get in my way a little, but I’m a team player.”
