Rizwan Welcomes Indian Players to Pakistan: Amid the cold war between BCCI and PCB, Pak captain Mohammad Rizwan sent a heartfelt message welcoming Surya Kumar Yadav, KL Rahul, and the rest of the players to Pakistan.
Rizwan Welcomes Indian Players to Pakistan
Rizwan was speaking in the press conference ahead of the AUS vs PAK third ODI.
“KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav are all welcome. All the players who will come, we will welcome them. This is not our decision, this is PCB’s decision. Whatever decision will take place, hopefully they will all discuss and take the right call. But we are hopeful that if the Indian players will come, we will welcome them,” Rizwan said in the media interaction.
The Stand-Off Continues
The standoff between BCCI and PCB continues over the venue of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament’s hosting rights have been attained by the Greens, but BCCI refused to travel to their neighboring nation, citing security concerns. India demands the tournament to be conducted in a hybrid format, in which their matches would be played in the UAE with the final being in Dubai.
The ICC has sent a letter to Pakistan informing them of the concerns from BCCI, but PCB is reluctant to change their initial stand of not shifting any games outside the country.
“We have been told by our government not to move any game out of Pakistan, and that will be our stand when the time comes. Right now, the ICC has just informed us about India’s decision. We have the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy so there is no way we can move the games outside Pakistan,” said a PCB official.
“We have responded to last week’s ICC letter, seeking clarifications for the BCCI’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In reply, we have sent them a questionnaire asking them the reasons for the BCCI’s decision. We are keen to know that. So right now, there is no talk of moving games,” he said.
The 8-team series will have its first game played on February 19.
