Rishabh Pant smacks Tim Southee for a 107-metre six: India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant missed his 7th Test century by only one run in the 1st Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant headlined Day 4 of the ongoing Test match in Bengaluru through their explosive batting pyrotechnics. Khan scored 150 off 195 balls with 18 fours and three sixes, while Pant hammered 99 off 105 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes.
The biggest of Pant’s sixes was measured at a whopping 107 meters, which he smoked to senior New Zealand pacer Tim Southee. The fact that Pant launched Southee for a maximum with a risky shot while he was on 90* makes it even more jaw-dropping.
Southee came around the wicket to Pant and bowled a harmless full-length delivery, right in the batsman’s slot. Pant, whose instincts are to attack, slogged the ball with his full power and went down on one knee to make it look even more majestic.
The ball sailed way beyond the boundary line and hit the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Even KL Rahul, the non-striker, and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips had their mouths gasping while watching this gigantic hit from Rishabh Pant.

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz and Pant’s partnership of 177 (211) helped India take a lead but the hosts collapsed after New Zealand took the second new ball. India lost their last seven wickets in 20 overs, going from 408/3 to 462 all out, setting up a target of 107 runs for the Black Caps.
Only four balls in New Zealand’s second innings could happen as bad light stopped play. India would be looking to get quick wickets in the first hour of day 5 to have a chance of defending this low total.
