Rishabh Pant Comments On His Return To Cricket: Rishabh Pant has been cleared to play in the upcoming IPL 2024 season and will be representing the Delhi Capitals. He has now opened up about his gruesome accident, and his upcoming return.
Pant was in a high-speed car crash on December 30, 2022. Not only did he survive the crash, which was somewhat lucky in its own right, but he also did not suffer any life-altering injuries. A few broken bones and ruptured tendons are the best-case scenario following such an accident.
It was clear the wicketkeeper-batter was going to be away from cricket for some time. After undergoing treatments and surgeries, he started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

It has since been a long road to recovery for the 26-year-old. He was still on crutches at the time of IPL 2024 and was still limping during the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Expected to be in playing condition before IPL 2024, he was cleared by the doctors at the NCA just days ago.
Rishabh Pant Comments On His Return To Cricket
In a recent interview with the Times of India, Rishabh Pant opened up about how he felt going out of action while he was in great form.
“I was sad because I was going through a very good time. But I had to ensure I didn’t pity myself. That’s how I was keeping myself sane, said Pant.
The Delhi-based cricketer then went on to discuss how important it is for him to familiarise himself with the feeling of entering and playing in a stadium again, he continued –
“I don’t want to think that I am taking a fresh guard or I am making my debut all over again or I just had a break. I just want to feel how it is to be on the ground again. I need that feeling from within that I am just continuing with my career.”

Being away from cricket for so long, Rishabh Pant admitted that he did not watch all of Team India’s matches while he was away. This was to avoid the temptation of donning the gloves once more.
“I won’t say I watched every match. Because when you miss something so much, you need to give yourself space from that. I have been playing cricket all my life. I haven’t thought about anything else. Watching them play was temptation but I didn’t want that to play with my mind. I used to watch the matches once in a while when I used to be done with my routine,” Pant claimed.
Rishabh Pant will return to Delhi Capitals as the franchise captain in IPL 2024. The team will kick their season off on March 23 when they take on the Punjab Kings in the newly constructed Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Mohali.
