Real Madrid Targets Several PL Players: Spanish club Real Madrid is reportedly targeting several Premier League stars as manager Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his squad in 2025.
Los Blancos are coming off a very successful 2023-24 season in which they won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. The club, currently among the best in the world, has some of the biggest stars in world football at its disposal.
Before the start of the 2024-25 season, they had Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr., two players in the race for the Ballon d’Or, in their ranks. They also have international superstars like midfielder Luka Modric and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

In the 2024 summer transfer window, Real has been a little quiet and has made only two signings, but these are massive. First, they bought the latest Brazilian youngster set to become a future superstar, Endrick, from Palmeiras in South America. Their second signing this summer is French superstar Kylian Mbappe, arguably the best footballer on earth, in a free transfer.
So even though the team has not made signings that will change their side a lot, manager Ancelotti has made some huge signings. But if reports are to be believed, the Spanish giants are looking to make a lot of big-name signings next year.
Real Madrid is an ageing team, with several of their big stars toward the end of their careers. Luka Modric, who has been absolutely vital for Madrid for a decade now, has recently turned 39 and will see his contract expire next year. On a similar note, right-back Dani Carvajal’s contract is set to expire in 2025, as he will turn 33.

With all that being said, the biggest name on Real and Carlo Ancelotti’s target list is Manchester City midfielder Rodri. The playmaker has had a fantastic 2024 and is among the frontrunners of the 2024 Ballon d’Or race. Most recently, he not only won the 2024 UEFA Euro with Spain, he was the Player of the Tournament.
Another Premier League star on Real Madrid’s radar is Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. While the English defender/midfielder might not be the best defender in the world, his ability to drive the ball down the pitch and create chances is second to none.
Finally, they are targeting the centre-back duo of William Saliba and Christian Romero, who play for Corth London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively. They are sought after as competition for current Real centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy.
While all these players are on target for Real Madrid, signing any of them will not be easy, especially for the likes of Rodri and Saliba, as they are a crucial piece of the puzzle for their respective sides’ success.
