In the chase, it was all Virat Kohli for RCB till the 16th over. Rabada sent Faf and Green packing with back-of-length stuff, while Patidar and Maxwell were knocked over by Brar.
Kohli batted on his own pitch, starting with four boundaries in the first over off Sam Curran, after he was given a reprieve by Bairstow at first slip. Kohli collected boundaries off Rabada and Arshdeep before tonking sixes to Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel. Kohli’s innings was eventually ended by Harshal, slicing a full ball outside off to deep backward point, before Anuj Rawat was dismissed by Curran.
RCB needed 47 runs from 22 balls, and then came a spectacular finish from Karthik and Lomror. Lomror blasted a six and a four to Arshdeep in the 18th over, and Karthik took the same off Harshal in the 19th. With 10 runs needed off the final over, Karthik scooped Arshdeep over fine leg for a six and, after a wide, slapped a straight four to seal the win.
Score summary: Punjab Kings 176/6 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 45, Mohammed Siraj 2/26); Royal Challengers Bengaluru 178/6 in 19.2 overs (Virat Kohli 77, Harpreet Brar 2/13). RCB defeated PBKS by 4 runs.
