It was Match 5 of WPL 2023 and RCB took on the GIants in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was a fairly one-sided contest as the home team chased down the small target of 107 in just 12.3 overs with 8 wickets to spare.
During the run chase, when captain Smriti Manchana and Sabbhineni Meghana were batting, the camera showed a fan with a banner that read, “Will you marry me Shreyanka Patil?”

Patil has emerged as one of the most popular and followed players not just in the Royal Challengers Bangalore locker-room, but in the whole WPL. This was seen in yet another poster brought to the match that went viral on social media. A little girl brought a banner to the RCB vs GG match which read, “Shreyanka, you make RCB and Bengaluru proud. We have come to see you.”
Despite a disappointing WPL 2023 for RCB, Shreyanka Patil was a standout player for the side. She was the highest wicket taker for the side with 6 wickets in 7 matches. This year, however, she has failed to pick up even a single wicket.
On the other hand, her side Royal Challengers Bangalore are having a terrific start to to WPL 2024. After two matches, they are on four points after winning both. The side also has the best net run rate in the league with 1.665.
