This can also be seen in the head-to-head record between the two sides. In the 31 matches the two teams have faced each other, 20 have been won by CSK and 10 by RCB.
This record is even worse at the Chepauk, where RCB have won only 1 out of 8 matches. The Bengaluru-based side has notion a single match in Chennai in almost 16 years.
The only match RCB won in Chennai was the second-ever contest between the two sides as the Royal Challengers defeated the Super Kings by 14 runs on May 21, 2008.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a franchise recently won its first title in 16 years, when the women’s team won the 2024 season of the WPL.
With a stigma having been broken, the men’s team will be looking to do a lot of firsts this season too – defeating CSK in Chennai for the first time since 2008 and winning the IPL title for the first time ever.
