Ravindra Jadeja And KL Rahul TO Play The 3rd Test: The 2nd Test of the five-match series between India and England saw the hosts go into the contest without some of their biggest names. While Virat Kohli was out of the squad altogether, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja missed the 2nd Test after playing the 1st one due to injuries. The latter two are now set to return to the squad.
Both – Jadeja and Rahul played a huge part in giving India a massive first-innings lead in the 1st Test, with the two being the team’s highest run scorers with 87 and 86 runs respectively. Ravi Jadeja even picked up five wickets in the match.
While India did go on to lose the Test match due to a collapse in the second innings, the two proved how crucial they are to team India not only in Tests but in every format.
Ravindra Jadeja And KL Rahul TO Play The 3rd Test
While it was reported a few days back that Jadeja might end up skipping the 3rd Test in front of his home crowd in Rajkot, Gujarat, it now looks like he will be back in the side. The allrounder recently posted a picture of himself in the National Cricket Academy (NCA), providing an update on his fitness with the caption, “Getting better.”
A name that will likely not return to the squad for the 3rd Test is Virat Kohli, who skipped the first two matches due to personal reasons. A source from BCCI stated that Virat has informed the board that he will not be playing the next two Test matches as well. The source told –
“Virat will determine the timing of his return to the Indian team. As of now, he hasn’t communicated his decision to us. However, whenever he chooses to resume playing, he will be welcomed back into the team.”
Another name that might skip the 3rd Test match is Jasprit Bumrah. The ace pacer was named the Player of the Match in the 2nd Test for his nine wickets, including a six-wicket haul in the first innings.
Reports have emerged that Burah might be rested for the 3rd Test in Rajkot due to workload management, as his fitness has been a massive issue for the national team for the past few years.
