It is Day 2 of India’s 3rd Test of the five-match series against England and it has been a difficult day for the hosts. After finishing Day 1 on 326/5, India lost two early wickets today. While Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel pushed the score past 400, and Jasprit Bumrah played a blitz innings of 26, the Rohit Sharma-led side finished their innings at 445.

Sri Lankan legend Muthiah Muralidaran has the most wickets in Test history with 800. The Indian with the most wickets in the format is Anil Kumble with 619 wickets, which is the fourth most in Test history.
Ashwin also became the second-fastest player to reach the milestone. He did so in 98 matches. The fastest was, again, Muralidharan, who did so in just 87 matches.
Two active bowlers are ahead of Ashwin in the Test wicket tally. The third-highest wicket-taker in the format is English legend James Anderson with 696 wickets in 185 contests, who is also a part of the ongoing match. While Australia’s Nathan Lyon is eighth on the list with 517 wickets in 127 matches. Although Ashwin has a better average, strike rate, and wickets per match than them both.
For India to win this match, Ravichandran Ashwin will have to go past the 500-wicket mark and scalp a few more English batters.
