Ravi Shastri on Virat-Rohit Retirement: Former cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri spoke about the future of star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Shastri’s comment came after both players showcased lackluster performances in the first four Tests of the Australia vs India Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
The big poles of Indian cricket, Virat and Rohit, have been in abysmal form since the New Zealand series and have been continuing it till now.
Rohit Sharma even recorded the lowest batting average for a touring captain in a Test series in Australia, which is 6.20. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, had a century in the first BGT Test.
Ravi Shastri on Virat-Rohit Retirement
Ravis Shastri opined that Virat Kohli could play for three to four years, but Rohit Sharma seems like he has lost the touch.
“No, I think Virat Kohli will play,” Shastri told the broadcaster, Star Sports. “Virat will play for some time, forget the way he got out today. I think he will play for 3 or 4 more years. As far as Rohit is concerned, it’s a call. At the top of the order, his footwork isn’t the same. He is probably, at times, a little late in meeting the ball. So it’s his call at the end of the series.”
“But, having said, this Australian team want it badly. The captain wants it badly. The determination in his eyes was evident even when he was batting yesterday. He was not going to give it away,” he added.
