India will take on Afghanistan in the first of three T20Is to be played between the two sides in the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium, Mohali, on January 11th.
Mohali, about 250 km North of Delhi and about 100 km away from a snowy Shimla, sees the temperature fall to as low as 2 degrees Celcius at night.

The Indian cricket team held a practice session at the stadium on Wednesday, January 10th. While the players were seen donning jackets even while warming up and playing, non-players like head coach Rahul Dravid wore multiple layers of clothing and a woollen skullcap.
In a video released by the BCCI, Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi was seen joking about with former cricketer Pragyan Ojha. As per the Ravi Bishnoi Jokes About Playing In Mohali Cold, Talking to Sports18 about practising and playing in such cold weather, the Lucknow Supe Giants wrist-spinner claimed that he was more worried about fielding during the match against Afghanistan as compared to bowling.
“In the cold, I am more afraid of fielding than bowling in these conditions. If you drop one, it’s done,”
said Bishnoi to Sports18.
Discussing how fielding is made more difficult under low floodlights, the 23-year-old went on to say –

“It’s a bit tough fielding here because of the low level of the floodlights. You have to keep this in mind and before the match, you need to train.”
Ravi Bishnoi might have to compete with Kuldeep Yadav for the spot of wrist-spinner in the match against Afghanistan. After the first match, the second match of the series will be played in Indore’s Holkar Stadium on January 14, Sunday, while the third match will be played on Wednesday, January 17 in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.
